So if you have visited my site you are probably either curious or needing some help!  Look! Either way, I am sure you will leave either entertained or feeling more empowered!   You see I do not know how I ended up here: went to school for design and merchandising, had children, started teaching 1st grade (everyone that knew me did a double take), and somehow learned a whole lot about different learning styles.......  Oh yea! I also did some training under an Orton Gillingham Guru and that is when I really feel like I began to teach...... to the brain.

So I know so much now about the why, the how, and what to do, but then it was just plain frustrating and listen.... I was a teacher!!!  So my story may be like yours...... You may be dreading the carline pick up because you know as soon as your student gets in the car  that the struggle will begin!!  Not just the struggle of the act of studying or doing homework, but the struggle when your child studies for hours only to score poorly on a test....  And you know your child is bright.... You know because you see it, but not everyone can see that.

So you may be like me years ago.... I was the  mom that was sitting in the suburban while my other children were cheering or kicking a ball and I had a little boy that was breaking pencils and bearing down trying to focus to get his homework done.   And did I mention that reading was so hard.... Something was going on with this little guy who was social and athletic....  But, no one knew or no one could say what they thought.  Often times our teachers do not have the voice they need to say.."hey something is going on here..." Well, thanks to my amazing tribe....Fast forward........... we got the help he needed!   It took awhile to put all of the pieces together, but we are in a good place.  If you are where I was, then I don't want you to waste a second.

So, I have decided to share what I have learned so maybe you don't have to struggle so much... Don't get me wrong, I think struggle is a good thing!  But I believe in working smarter not harder.  That is very often what we need to understand as parents.  So whether it be a boost in reading, learning how to make a visual study guide or hopping onto a clarity call with me.... I hope v hive learning can help you in some way.
